David Moyes says he wants an entirely new team  if he is to guide Sunderland back into the Premier League next season.

The Black Cats boss, who has yet to commit his future to the club, has reportedly told owner Ellis Short that only real investment in the squad will be good enough to convince him to stay.

Several players could face the Stadium of Light exit door in the summer with the likes of John O’Shea, Steven Pienaar, Victor Anichebe, Fabio Borini and goalkeeper Jordan Pickford all likely to move on.

Pickford is coveted by several clubs and could fetch around £20 million which may help fund a transfer kitty to bring in other players.

The club are still thought to be heavily in debt to the tune of roughly £110 million and it remains to be seen how much money will be available in the summer for new signings.

Sunderland fans on social media have been giving their reaction to the manager’s demands.
