Sunderland have been linked with making a move for Steven Naismith.

According to a report in the Chronicle the Norwich striker could link up again with David Moyes.

After failing to win promotion back to the Premier League Norwich are embarking on a range of cost cutting measures.

Naismith was signed by Alex Neil in January 2016 but was unable to prevent the Canaries from being relegated and only played in 20 Championship matches.

With two years left on his contract Norwich are prepared to let the Scotland internationalist leave for free but agreeing personal terms will be a major obstacle.

Moyes signed Naismith for Everton in 2012 and was rewarded by a steady stream of goals and all out effort.

Those qualities will be essential if the Black Cats are to win promotion back to the Premier League with Moyes already having a number of former Everton players at the Stadium of Light.
