Sunderland have reportedly been linked with a surprise January swoop for Premier League star Andre Ayew, according to Sky Sports.
The Premier League side, who lie one point adrift of safety in the bottom three, want to recruit the Swansea City forward in a bid to help them steer clear of relegation come May.
The 26-year-old, who has 67 international caps for Ghana, has scored an impressive seven goals in 20 league games for the fellow struggling top-flight outfit this season.
Ayew, who only arrived at the Liberty Stadium from Marseille on a free transfer in the summer, still has three-and-a-half years remaining on his current deal with interim boss Alan Curtis’ side.
Swansea themselves are in a relegation fight having lost to Sam Allardyce’s Black Cats 4-2 in midweek, leaving them just a point above the drop zone.
