Sunderland have reportedly offered £10m plus striker Fabio Borini for Ghana international forward Andre Ayew, according to Sky Sports.

The Premier League side, who are currently four points adrift of safety in the bottom three after their 1-1 draw against AFC Bournemouth at the weekend, are understood to have launched an improved offer for the Swansea City star summer signing before the close of the January transfer window.

The 26-year-old, who has 67 international caps for his country, has scored eight league goals in 22 appearances for the Welsh outfit this season.

Ayew; who arrived at the Liberty Stadium on a free transfer from Ligue 1 side Marseille back in June, was the subject of an opening £6m bid from the Black Cats just ten days ago, although it was instantly rejected.

However Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce has now reportedly increased the transfer fee to £10m; plus the services of fellow Borini, who has scored just twice in the Premier League this campaign for Sunderland.
