Sunderland are reportedly weighing up a January move for Queens Park Rangers hitman Charlie Austin.

New Black Cats boss Sam Allardyce, who succeeded Dick Advocaat at the Stadium of Light last week, is keen on giving the talented striker a return to the Premier League during the New Year period.

The 26-year-old, who used to play for non-league outfits Hungerford Town and Poole Town, has scored six goals in nine Championship appearances for Chris Ramsey’s QPR this season.

Last term; Austin netted an impressive 18 league goals in 35 games during his first campaign in the English top-flight, earning him interest from the likes of Premier League rivals Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Liverpool, Newcastle United and West Ham United over the summer.
