John O’Shea has just done enough to be named our Sunderland Player of the Year

After surviving against the odds last term, Sunderland look like they will have to do it all again in the next five or so months.

Picking the club’s Player of 2015 was the hardest out of all the top flight teams as there’s been no real standout performer throughout the past 12 months.

With that in mind we’ve opted for experienced captain John O’Shea.

Yes, he’s had his shockers at times, but the Irishman’s performances and leadership qualities at the back end of last term really helped the Black Cats survive.

The 34-year-old is also statistically the Wearside outfit’s fourth best player this term – behind summer signings Yann M’Vila, Younes Kaboul and Jermain Defoe, who hasn’t been involved from the start consistently enough to be considered.
