John O’Shea (Republic of Ireland)

Again there’s not too many, but former Manchester United defender John O’Shea played every minute of Republic of Ireland’s qualifying campaign before injury ruled him out of the first-leg of the play-offs. The Irish were unfortunate not to qualify outright as they only conceded seven goals, the least in their group, and the Sunderland man had a big part to play in that solid record. The 33-year-old captain has now played over 100 times for his country and will be desperate to perform in what is likely to be his final major international tournament.
