Swansea City have accepted a £12 million bid from Everton for their captain Ashley Williams, according to BBC Sport.

The Welsh club had rejected a £10 million offer from the Toffees earlier this month, but after John Stones completed a £47.5 million move to Manchester City on Tuesday, the Merseyside outfit decided to raise their bid for the 31-year-old centre-back.

The Wales international, who led his nation to the semi-finals of the 2016 European Championship finals earlier this month, where they were beaten by the eventual champions Portugal, hasn’t played in any of the Swans’ pre-season fixtures after being given an extended break following his exertions during the summer.

Williams has made 346 appearances in all competitions for Swansea since joining them from Stockport in 2008, scoring 14 goals.

Everton boss Ronald Koeman is also said to be chasing an £18 million deal for Sunderland defender Lamine Kone, who only moved to the Stadium of Light during the January transfer window.
