Swansea City defender Angel Rangel has signed a new one-year deal that will keep him at the Welsh club until 2018.

The Spaniard’s current contract had been due to run out next summer, but the right-back will now be appearing at the Liberty Stadium for the next two seasons.

He told the club’s official website: “I am delighted to have extended my contract for another year and I am looking forward hopefully to having more years at the club.”

Rangel has made more than 340 appearances for the club since joining them from Terrassa in 2007, scoring nine goals, and helped them on their rise from League One to the Premier League.

Swansea are looking to improve upon a 12th-placed finish in the top-flight last term, and as well as Gylfi Sigurdsson and Nathan Dyer signing new long-term deals this summer, they have also added Spanish striker Fernando Llorente to their squad.
