With speculation suggesting star striker Bafetimbi Gomis and midfielder Jonjo Shelvey are set to leave the club this month, Swansea City are looking to strengthen their attacking ranks with the loan signing of Chelsea forward Patrick Bamford.

The 22-year-old, who is an England Under-21 international, is ready to leave Stamford Bridge once more in the January transfer window after failing to score for Crystal Palace during the first-half of the 2015-16 campaign in eight appearances.

The Swans, who sit two points above the bottom three after losing 2-1 against Manchester United on Saturday, have earmarked the Chelsea ace as their top transfer target in the wake of Gomis and Shelvey’s expected departures later this month.

France international Gomis is set for a lucrative switch to Qatar side Lekhwiya, meanwhile out-of-favour England midfielder Shelvey is destined to leave the Liberty Stadium as well after falling out with chairman Huw Jenkins over the dismissal of former manager Garry Monk.

Bamford, who joined defending Premier League champions Chelsea from Nottingham Forest in a deal worth £1.5m back in January 2012, scored 17 goals in 38 league appearances for Championship outfit Middlesbrough last season.
