All 12 of Danny Rose’s England caps have come in 2016, which says all you need to know about his fantastic year.

The 26-year-old had never really nailed down a place in the Spurs team since moving there in 2007, but the last few seasons, and indeed this year specifically, has seen the left-back grow into one of the best in the division.

Rose is undoubtedly England’s number one left-back at present, and Spurs look a better side when he is marauding forward and getting balls into the box.

2016 has been a staggering improvement from a player who this time last year was behind the likes of Kieran Gibbs and Ryan Bertrand in the England pecking order.
