Sunderland may have to drop their asking price for Jordan Pickford.

According to a report in the Daily Mail the goalkeeper has had a £30m price tag put on his head.

Everton and West Ham have both made enquiries but aren’t prepared to go close to the asking price for a player that has only made 31 Premier League appearances.

Pickford is currently with the England u-21 squad and has had an impressive apprenticeship with five loan spells up through the divisions from Darlington to Preston in the Championship.

A goalkeeping merry-go-round is expected to kick off now that Manchester City have signed Ederson from Benfica for £35m.

That deal puts Joe Hart firmly on the market and although he is older and more expensive in terms of wages compared to Pickford the England number one is available for £10m less than the price Sunderland are looking for for their keeper.

With no manager in place chief executive Martin Bain is in charge of transfer matters.
