These hopes were dashed on the 1st of January though, when Pogba was not named in the squad to face Arsenal and subsequently manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer announced that the World Cup Winner will be undergoing surgery.

It was assumed by the footballing world that Pogba was having surgery to sort the problem which has plagued him all season, but the Telegraph have reported it’s a different ankle problem.

The paper have also stated that Pogba is concerned about missing Euro 2020, a statement which is sure to aggrieve many Manchester United fans, who are desperate for their star to return and help them get back in to the Premier League top four.
