Bobby Smith was Spurs’ all time top goal-scorer before Greaves came along.

Smith was an integral part of the Tottenham side that recorded three top three finishes in the 1950s, before going one better and winning the First Division for just the second time in the club’s history in 1961.

He scored a remarkable 208 goals in just 317 games for Spurs, including 30 plus in four successive seasons, and it’s figures like that, and indeed trophies to match, which deservedly places him in the top three.

    I’ve been watching Spurs since 1964 & here’s my 1-2-3:
    1. Dimitar Berbatov – The complete front-man, total quality
    2. Jimmy Greaves – The greatest finisher (& my idol, as a kid)
    3. Harry Kane – the best is yet to come
    Also rans – Teddy Sheringham, Alan Gilzean, Jermain Defoe, Steve Archibald

    Been supporting Spurs since 1951 Greaves Gilzean Smith in that order the thing about Gilly was he played for the team would have scored many more goals if he had been more selfish I’d love to know how many assists he had.

    I’ve been watching Tottenham since the 1982-83 centenary season, and the best strikers I have seen at the club, during this time, are:

    1) Gary Lineker
    2) Jurgen Klinsmann (in his first season)
    3) Dimitar Berbatov

    Other favourites: Steve Archibald; Teddy Sheringham; Jermain Defoe and Harry Kane

    I would agree with the top three strikers in the original article – and Greavsie would easily be the greatest Tottenham striker. Used to love watching him on “Saint and Greavsie” in the 80s!

    absolutely agree with your top 3. Greaves is number 1 by a country mile. Bobby Smith and Big Chiv have the goals to justify their inclusion. The best may be yet to come Dickspur but way to early to compare Harry to any of these 3.Fingers crossed he gets to number 2 on our all time scoring charts. I selfishly do not want anyone beating Greavsey who to me is God. 🙂 As for Berbatov, great player but not even a Spurs great in my opinion. Not at WHL long enough to justify being that. COYS
