Manchester City were reportedly willing to pay the £170 million release clause to bring Neymar to England last summer and, although no move materialised, Guardiola may target him again in January.

It’s pretty clear why he’s interested in the Brazilian forward.

53 goals in 103 games for Santos, and subsequent excellent performances for Brazil, got the 24-year-old recognition on the world stage, but it wasn’t until his move to Barcelona in 2013, where many speculated that he wouldn’t be able to reproduce that form, where he became a world-class forward.

He’s scored 88 goals in 144 appearances for Barcelona, including 30 plus in all competitions in the last two seasons, and has started this season in similar fashion, netting five times in seven matches.

Again, there may be question marks over whether he can do it England, like there were three years ago, but Neymar has proved to be one of the best forwards in world football, and would be in any front four in the Premier League.
