The central midfield area is a concern for Arsenal, with the likes of Francis Coquelin and Granit Xhaka failing to nail down a regular spot.

However, if the latter can sort out his disciplinary issues on the pitch, he could go on and become an excellent midfielder for the Gunners.

The Swiss international is currently suspended after his red card against Burnley last month, although faces just one match on the sidelines before returning to the squad for selection.

And, although the discipline is a concern, there’s no doubt that the 24-year-old has quality in that midfield area, with displays against the likes of Tottenham and Swansea exemplifying his capabilities.

With Mohamed Elneny back from the African Cup of Nations, competition for places has increased, but Wenger should back Xhaka and bring him back into the side when he returns from suspension.
