Man United had a summer window that dreams are made of. In his first few months at the helm in Manchester, Jose Mourinho has gone about his transfer dealings like a child on FIFA.
Whereas normally a manager will have to pick and choose from realistic targets, and scour the globe for that one canny deal, ‘The Special One’ has acted like a Man United manager should and has gone out into the market and cherry-picked the best.
Deals for Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Henrikh Mkhitaryan would have made the summer one to remember, but that was never enough for the Red Devils.
The former Chelsea manager, along with Ed Woodward, slaved over a deal to bring French international Paul Pogba, back to the club in what was the saga to end all sagas.
In finalising the 23-year-old’s homecoming the club broke the world transfer record, paying Juventus a whopping £89m, as well as another reported £16m going to the midfielder’s ‘super-agent’, Mino Raiola.
There could have been plenty more incomings at Old Trafford, which would have rounded-off one of the best transfer windows of all time, but what would that dream United XI look like? Well, take a look…

LB: Luke Shaw
The England international looked untouchable before his disastrous leg-break early last season and is showing signs of returning to that form as we get into the new season.
If the former Southampton man gets an injury free season under his belt he should be well on his way to becoming one of the best full-backs in world football.
CM: Blaise Matuidi
The French international was reportedly granted permission to leave his Euro 2016 training camp over the summer in order to finalise a move to Old Trafford.
The 29-year-old would have been the perfect partner for his compatriot, Paul Pogba, upon his return to Man United, however a deal failed to materialise, although Mourinho does still have more midfield options to choose from than most other Premier League managers combined, so they should be fine.

They did it! After a deal which reportedly took over a year to complete was finalised, United have their man back, and he returns as the world’s most expensive footballer.
At the age of only 23, the midfielder, who still appears to be slightly unsure of his best role in his position, has plenty to learn under the guise of Jose Mourinho and can lead this Red Devils team to glory for a long time to come.
RW: Henrik Mkhitaryan
The Armenian international has featured twice off the bench for Mourinho in the Premier League so far this season, but as the European and domestic cup fixtures start to pile up, game time for the 27-year-old should not be a problem.
The former Borussia Dortmund man scored 11 and assisted 20 goals in the Bundesliga last season, and if he can translate those stats to England then he could do wonders alongside the stars in this dream team.

ST: Zlatan Ibrahimovic
The awe inspiring Swede arrived at Old Trafford on a free-transfer from Paris Saint Germain earlier this summer and has confounded his critics with a blistering start to the season, including the winner at Wembley in the Community Shield and a brace on his Premier League home debut, against Southampton.
The 34-year-old may be nearing the end of his career but he has proven in just a month of competitive football with the Red Devils that he has still got what it takes to win league titles.
