He didn’t make the best of starts to his City career, but Leroy Sane has recently shown everyone why the club spent over £35 million on him last summer.

The German international failed to net in any of his first 12 appearances for the club, while also contributing just two assists in that time, which meant that he couldn’t nail down a spot in the starting eleven.

However, a run of three goals in three successive starts has underlined his ability in the final third, and two subsequent starts since in the wins over West Ham and Swansea have demonstrated Sane’s importance to the team in the front three.

His energy to make things happen and take defenders on makes him extremely tough to defend against and, although his decision-making and final ball needs some improvement, it’s clear that City have got a seriously top talent in their ranks, and one that will be crucial in the coming months.
