Southampton face competition from Newcastle and Crystal Palace for Bacary Sagna.

According to a report in the Daily Star the former Manchester City defender has at least three Premier League options for next season.

Sagna started 14 Premier League matches in the season just finished but was never likely to be offered a new deal with Pep Guardiola.

With ten years Premier League experience split between Arsenal and City it’s no surprise that clubs are lining up to sign the defender who turned 34 in February.

Moving north to Newcastle is probably the least likely option for the Frenchman but with a managerial vacancy at Crystal Palace and doubts over the future of Claude Puel at Southampton none of the options are clear cut.

Sagna was on a reported wage of £85,000/week at City and would be looking for a similar deal on a two year contract which is affordable for all three contenders.
