Scotland’s time at Euro 2020 may have been relatively short-lived, but for the fans who were there and those who watched it at home, the three matches they played will live long in the memory.

Steve Clarke’s side lost 2-0 to Czech Republic in a disappointing opening display, before labouring to a hard-fought 0-0 draw against England at Wembley to give themselves a chance of progressing.

Unfortunately, the Tartan Army succumbed to a 3-1 defeat to Croatia and their European Championship adventure was over.

One player in particular who impressed was young midfielder Billy Gilmour, with the Chelsea man putting in a man of the match display in the draw with England, before testing positive for Covid-19 and missing the last group game.

Since announcing himself on the world stage, Gilmour has been heavily linked with a move away from West London, with the Blues apparently telling the Scot that he can leave on loan to gain valuable first team experience.

Thomas Tuchel will allow Gilmour to go out on loan.

A number of clubs emerged as potential destinations for the 20-year-old, but Norwich City now look most likely to secure the player’s services.

According to Sky Sports, a medical has been arranged for Thursday evening for the player, who will then put pen to paper on a season-long loan deal.

The Scotsman will expect to play more regularly at Carrow Road, having made just five Premier League appearances for the Blues last season.

Gilmour emerged as a potential future star after a man of the match performance against Liverpool in the FA Cup during the 2019/20 season.

The youngster moved to Chelsea from Rangers in 2017, and has since made 22 appearances for the club.
