Two of the greatest players to have represented Iceland made international history in 1996 when they became the first father and son to appear in the same match for their country.

34-year-old Arnor started the match against Estonia, and he was taken off in the second half and replaced by his 17-year-old son Eidur, who would go on to make his name at Chelsea and Barcelona.

Had a broken ankle not put the younger Gudjohnsen out of action for a long period, the likelihood is they would have played alongside each other for their country.
