Newcastle and Leicester were involved in a thrilling encounter at St James’ Park. The Magpies actually went 1-0 up after dominating the first half, but they goals from Matt Elliot, Steve Claridge and Emile Heskey in 14 second-half minutes put the visitors 3-1 up. However, one particular well known Geordie, who goes by the name of Alan Shearer, rescued his side with a stunning hat-trick with just 13 minutes left on the clock. His first was a free-kick drilled into the roof of the net, second a low shot just inside the penalty area and third a tap in at the far post to seal, what looked like, an unlikely win.
