Xabi Alonso made the move from Real Sociedad to the Premier League for a a fee of around £10.5 million in 2004. And the midfielder was worth every penny. He made over 200 appearances, scoring 19 goals and making a host of unbelievable passes.

One of those goals came in the Champions League final in 2005 where Liverpool beat AC Milan on penalties after coming back from 3-0 down at the break to end the 90 minutes 3-3. This final is regarded as the best in the competition’s history. The Spaniard also won the FA Cup and Community Shield before he was sold to Real Madrid in 2009 for £30 million.
