2. Away Goals

The Away goals rule should be scrapped. Not only is it unfair and out-dated; but it also, more often than not, causes the opposite outcome of what was originally intended when it was introduced by UEFA back in 1965. This arbitrary rule originally aimed to either avoid having a play-off, or to reduce the chance of a penalty shootout. However, it is hard to look past just how much of an influence this footballing law has.

Away goals encourages teams to defend at home and attack away and Arsene Wenger has been calling for its removal since 2008. The ruling can often skew the way teams play, as well as the result of the match and, at the end of the day, why should one goal count more than any other?
