Bayern Munich star David Alaba is Austria’s key man.

After going unbeaten through the entire Euro 2016 qualification campaign, Austria qualified for the championships for the first time in their history.

They made easy work of the likes of Russia, Sweden and Montenegro, winning nine and drawing one of their 10 matches, while only conceding three times.

In talking about likely candidates to progress to the latter stages in next summer’s tournament, people seem to be quick to forget about Austria, whose key player is Bayern Munich star David Alaba.

However, with a resilient defence and plenty of flair going forward, I would expect them to surprise a few people in France next summer.
