Carroll struggled at Liverpool

Then: As the January window approached in the 2010/11 season, Andy Carroll was in the form of his life. The Newcastle United forward had an incredible physical presence and had the raw potential to become the next goalscoring hero at St James’ Park. In just 19 Premier League games, Carroll had scored an impressive total of 11 goals. However, it was still a huge shock when Liverpool, who needed to replace Torres, decided to make the forward the most expensive Englishman in the history of the game at the time. While he was extremely talented, there were still questions marks about his ability to stay fit and his behaviour off the pitch.

Now: Carroll struggled to adapt to Liverpool’s playing style and eventually left the club for West Ham United, on loan in 2012 and permanently in 2013. Despite a promising start with the Hammers, the striker’s fitness problems got the better of him and he missed much of the 2013/14 and 2014/15 season with injury. His transfer to Liverpool is arguably one of the biggest mistakes in Premier League history. But at only 26, Carroll still has time to recapture his wonderful Newcastle United form…. if he can stay injury-free.
