With former Borussia Dortmund boss Jurgen Klopp set to succeed Brendan Rodgers as Liverpool manager, Shoot takes a look at what Reds fans could be looking forward to in the near future.

Following the club’s 1-1 draw at Merseyside rivals at Everton on Sunday, the Liverpool board decided to call time on Northern Irishman Rodgers’ three-year reign at Anfield, with the 18-time English league champions determined to appoint a new manager before next Saturday’s trip to Tottenham.

After agreeing a deal with the charismatic German, 48-year-old Klopp is to take the hot seat after lifting two Bundesliga titles, a German Cup and three German Super Cups during his seven-year spell at the Westfalenstadion.

Ahead of Klopp’s anticipated appointment, we put together the top-five memorable games he managed during his successful spell with Dortmund…

5. Borussia Dortmund 2-1 Bayern Munich (July, 2008)

In May 2008, FSV Mainz 05 boss Jurgen Klopp was approached to succeed Thomas Doll as manager of Borussia Dortmund. Just two months later, Klopp masterminded BVB’s defence of the German Super Cup by defeating Bayern Munich 2-1 in his very first competitive match in charge. Although the competition was not recognised by the German Football League that year, Klopp’s taste of instant success was a sign of things to come at the Westfalenstadion under the charismatic manager, as goals from Jakub Blaszczykowski and Tomas Hajnal cancelled out Mehmet Ekeci’s strike for Munich, much to the delight of 50,000 die-hard Dortmund supporters. This was Klopp’s first-ever managerial honour.
