Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero made the headlines last weekend as he scored five times in 20 minutes against Newcastle at the Etihad.

Spectacular though it is to score five times in one match, this is a feat that a whole host of players have achieved and, in fact, Aguero becomes the fifth player to score five goals in a Premier League match.

This has not just been achieved in England either; players from all over the globe have managed this, putting on dazzling displays for spectators. Here are some of the most important occasions where a player has scored five goals in one game.

Kris Boyd has managed a five-goal haul not once, but twice… and against the same club! Back in 2004, the forward put five past Dundee United and earned Kilmarnock a 5-2 victory in the process.

He then replicated his performance playing for Rangers in 2009, where Walter Smith’s side beat Dundee United 7-1.

The striker remains the Scottish Premier League’s all-time top goalscorer and has just rejoined Kilmarnock after his second spell at Rangers. To date, Boyd has 250 goals in around 500 appearances at club level and scored seven times in 18 international appearances.
