The most famous domestic cup competition has reached the third round stage, where sides from the top two divisions enter and, as always in the FA Cup, football fans will be on the lookout for shocks and giant-killings.

Out of the 64 clubs in action over the course of the weekend, just one non-league outfit remains, while a number of lower ranked teams have matches at home to out-of-form sides higher up the English footballing pyramid.

We take a look at five ties that could end in upsets.

5) Peterborough United vs Preston North End (Saturday, 3pm)

Peterborough beat Luton Town 2-0 in the second round.

There may only be 15 places between the two sides, but situated in different divisions, there looks to be a real chance of an upset at London Road on Saturday.

Peterborough are the highest scorers in the Football League with 52 goals from 25 matches, and with a record of more than two goals per game, Preston certainly won’t be relishing a trip to their prolific hosts.

The Posh, who have won six of their last nine games in League One, have one of the most in-form strikers in the country at the current time, Conor Washington.

However, only four Championship sides have conceded less than 15th-placed North End, and Simon Grayson’s men will come into the tie with confidence after successive victories against Hull City and Rotherham United in England’s second tier.
