Arsenal remained top of the Premier League after their 1-0 home victory against struggling Newcastle United at the weekend.

Elsewhere, there were wins for West Ham United, Manchester United, Norwich City, Sunderland, West Bromwich Albion, Manchester City and Chelsea, who looked somewhere nearer the side of last season with in an impressive 3-0 victory at Crystal Palace.

But in a weekend which also saw Aston Villa moved slip to 11 points from safety, who were the top performers?

Antonio cost West Ham £7m from Nottingham Forest in the summer

The summer signing from Nottingham Forest continued his rich vein of form with another goal, this time in the 2-0 home victory against Liverpool.

Antonio timed his run to perfection to meet Enner Valencia’s right-wing cross as he jumped above Nathaniel Clyne to head home in the 10th minute.

His tireless and enthusiastic wing play caused both full-backs problems throughout the game, as his pace meant that he was a constant option as the visitors struggled to deal with West Ham’s direct play.

The former Nottingham Fores star has now earned the trust of his manager, Slaven Bilic, after he failed to settle in the early months after his move.
