The veteran Brazilian pulled off a remarkable feat in Watford’s 1-0 win at West Bromwich Albion as he saved two of Saido Berahino’s spot-kicks.

The Hornets were already leading through Ben Watson when Gomes brought down Berahino in the area, but the former Spurs stopper made up for his error as he dived low to his right to keep out the former England Under-21 international’s penalty.

Then, with three minutes remaining, Etienne Capoue was adjudged to have fouled Stephane Sessegnon in the box, but once again the 35-year-old made the save, this time diving low to his left.

Incredibly, it was the second time that he had saved two penalties in a single Premier League match – he saved two Darren Bent spot-kicks for Tottenham against Sunderland in 2010.
