This came as second-place Tottenham Hotspur recorded an emphatic 4-0 win at Stoke City on Monday night.

Elsewhere, there were wins for Liverpool, Sunderland, Manchester United, Newcastle United, Watford and Manchester City.

5. Marcus Rashford (Manchester United)

18-year-old Rashford struck his seventh goal in just 12 games as United won 1-0 against Aston Villa, a result which condemned the managerless Villans to the Championship.

Just after the half-hour mark, the England Under-20 international swept the ball past Brad Guzan after Antonio Valencia had picked him out with a low cross from the right flank.

The teenager also went close in the second half while under pressure from Joleon Lescott as his sharp movement and turn of pace was a constant threat all afternoon.
