3. Karl Darlow (Newcastle United)
Newcastle United’s third choice goalkeeper has strung together a series of impressive performances as his side look to stay in the Premier League.
The 25-year-old was strong in between the sticks as he dealt with everything that Crystal Palace were throwing his way.
Then with 20 minutes remaining, he pulled off the first penalty save by a Toon ‘keeper in four years, as he dived to his left to save former Magpie Yohan Cabaye’s spot-kick.
A draw in this fixture would have been a major setback to Rafa Benitez’s side’s hopes of avoiding the drop, but the former Nottingham Forest man stayed strong to ensure that the three points would go to Tyneside, thanks to Andros Townsend’s excellent free-kick.
