Newcastle United – 17th

New boss Steve McClaren was given backing by owner Mike Ashley in the summer, but so far his signings haven’t paid off. Newcastle sit 17th in the table having made a difficult start, registering just two wins. Although Georginio Wijnaldum has made an impact, scoring four goals in a 6-2 victory over Norwich, others within the squad haven’t made the step up. Their main problem is finishing off chances up front. Aleksandar Mitrovic has a lot of pressure on him, and at only 20-years-old and fairly inexperienced, he may be forgiven for fluffing his lines at times.

Georginio Wijnaldum

Key man: Moussa Sissoko

The powerful midfielder, often compared to Manchester City’s Yaya Toure, is a player that others turn to for inspiration on the pitch. His bursting runs from deep excite the crowd and can push his side into a goalscoring position. If he were to perform on a more consistent basis, Sissoko has the ability to dominate the midfield and singlehandedly win games for Newcastle.
