Top 5: Premier League stars available on a free transfer this summer

Michael Carrick

Carrick’s Manchester United future is currently in limbo having not yet been offered a new deal by the club.

His current deal expires at the end of the season and the 35-year-old has openly said that retirement could possibly be an option should be not be offered an extension.

The England midfielder has had to fight his way into Jose Mourinho’s plans this year, but his form has been rather impressive to date. Of the 25 games the former Spurs player has been involved in, United have won 19, drawn five and lost just one.

Carrick has been awarded a testimonial after 11 years service at the club and his all-star team will meet a United 2008 side in June.
Whilst this would probably be the best stage he will get to mark the end of his career, a man with five Premier League titles, one Champions League and an FA Cup to his name is more than likely to receive a lot of offers should he not sign a new deal to remain at Old Trafford.
