Top 5: Premier League stars likely to be moved on in January

There are just five rounds of Premier League fixtures to play before the January transfer window opens for business.

Officially, the transfer window will open at midnight on Sunday 1st January and will remain open until around 11:00pm on Tuesday 31st January.

Over the summer, 13 top-flight teams broke their own transfer records as Premier League spending reached a record £1.165billion – with over £155million being spent on transfer deadline day alone.

This shattered last year’s record of £870million and with the new television deal that came into effect this season, we should be expecting more money to be splashed in the New Year.

Whilst this window won’t see quite as much money as was spent in the summer, it can be a lifeline for sidelined players that need a change of scenery. Clubs near the bottom of the table will also be looking for transfers that could turn their seasons around and some may even be looking for that one player in a position in which they have been lacking.
