Arsenal are now strong favourites to sign Spanish forward Lucas, as they look to hijack Everton manager Ronald Koeman’s £15m move for the striker.

The Toffees had already agreed personal terms with the Deportivo La Coruna player, but it looks as though he will soon be on his way to North London instead.

The 27-year-old scored 17 and assisted eight goals in 36 La Liga appearances last season and he will cost boss Arsene Wenger somewhere in the region of £17m.

Whether the Spaniard is providing support at Everton for Romelu Lukaku next season or attempting to solve Arsenal’s striking problems, it is more than likely that Lucas will be playing in the Premier League next season.
