No fixture congestion

The Leicester players celebrate Mahrez’s goal against Chelsea on Monday.

Unlike their faltering competitors, Leicester have no European commitments. This could be a key factor in the club’s season, as those extra games across the continent seem to distract and fatigue even the largest squads.

Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool and Spurs all have some form of European competition and whilst these clubs hold the advantage in experience and transfer market muscle, Ranieri will be able to make the most of the Foxes’ midweek recuperation and tailor his side’s training sessions for maximum effect.

Even though they have a tough run-in over Christmas, their lack of fixtures may just give them the edge over the other title contenders.
