Brendan Rodgers is now out of a job after losing his post as Liverpool boss on Sunday.
A lot has been made about the money spent by the transfer committee during the Northern Irishman’s tenure at Anfield, with the £16 million signing of Mario Balotelli and £20 million capture of Dejan Lovren just two that haven’t worked out. However, not all of ‘Rodgers’ buys’ were flops.
Here’s five that have performed and will be for Jurgen Klopp, who is to be appointed the new manager on Friday.
5. Nathaniel Clyne (from Southampton – £10 million)
Clyne has been one of the best right backs in the Premier League over the past couple of seasons, so much so he seems to have made the England number 2 short his own. In the summer, reports were linking him with a £25 million move to Manchester United, so for Liverpool to land him for £10 million was a great bit of business for a club which has lacked balance at the back in recent times. He’s made a solid start to life at Anfield and, at just 24 years of age, he can only get better.
