Deadline Day is almost here, with the 2017 summer transfer window closing on Thursday night (August 31) at 11:00pm!

Given the modern era’s influx of financial power, including record-breaking television rights deals, Premier League clubs have splashed the cash in their respected bids to claim Chelsea’s title, or to simply preserve their top-flight status come the end of May 2018.

For example; defending champions Chelsea have brought in striker Alvaro Morata from Real Madrid for a new club-record deal, whilst also lured the likes of Willy Caballero (Manchester City), Antonio Rudiger (AS Roma) and Tiemoue Bakayoko (AS Monaco) to Stamford Bridge this summer.

Manchester United’s Romelu Lukaku.

Arsenal have also smashed their club record transfer buy to land France forward Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon, Liverpool similarly with winger Mohamed Salah from Roma, whilst moneybags Manchester City have strengthened signifantly with the arrivals of Bernardo Silva, Ederson, Kyle Walker, Danilo and Benjamin Mendy this term.

Rivals Manchester United spent big to snatch Everton hitman Romelu Lukaku for an initial £75m, whilst Tottenham Hotspur have left their transfer business late, despite sealing a club-record deal for highly-rated Colombia defender Davinson Sanchez from Ajax earlier this month.

So, with the window set to slam shut within the next few hours, here’s Shoot!‘s Top 5 Summer Deadline Day deals in Premier League history, just in case some clubs are looking for some inspiration before any last-ditch offers…
