The Scandinavian nation’s achievement of securing a place in next year’s tournament this weekend with two games to spare is among the most unexpected.

Iceland have been on the rise for a number of years, making it to the play-offs for the 2014 World Cup, but they had never made it to a finals previously.

Six wins from eight group games, including home and away victories over the Netherlands, has helped them to seal their spot at Euro 2016 in France.
