Top 5: The Premier League’s most sought after relegation threatened stars

Gylfi Sigurdsson

Swansea City have been slowly lifting themselves outside of the bottom three and currently sit 16th in the table on 27 points.

Should they get drawn back into the relegation battle before the end of the season, one player that would most likely not make the move down to the second-tier of English football is Icelandic international Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Whilst he does have experience of playing in this division with Reading, the 27-year-old possesses far too much quality not to be playing in the Premier League.

Like Sunderland with Defoe, whether Swansea stay up or go down may be irrelevant as to whether the midfield maestro stays with the Welsh outfit next season as he is already attracting the attention of bigger clubs around him.

Everton are rumoured to be interested in signing the midfielder with a £25m figure that manager Ronald Koeman is ready to offer for the player.

Sigurdsson has eight goals and 11 assists so far this season and will be wanting to prove himself at another top club after failing to make the most of his chance with Tottenham a few years ago.
