The most famous domestic cup competition in the world, The FA Cup, returns for the first round this weekend, with a number of teams looking to cause upsets against sides ranked higher than them in the English footballing pyramid.

The prestigious tournament was founded in 1871, and a total of 736 teams will take part in the 2015-16 competition, from the qualifying rounds right through to the final at Wembley.

Here’s the teams we believe have a good chance of pulling off a famous ‘cupset’ this weekend.

Altrincham

Although they have had a rather mixed start to the season, currently lying 19th in the Conference Premier table, Altrincham will smell blood when the out-of-form Barnsley visit Moss Lane on Saturday.

Barnsley boss Lee Johnson is under pressure after seven straight defeats.

The Tykes have lost their last seven matches in League One, which has left them in 22nd, just one point off of the bottom of the standings.

Confidence is likely to be at an all-time low for the visitors, while their Greater Manchester-based hosts boast a proud record in the FA Cup of knocking out more league sides (16) than any other team that has spent their entire history in the non-league.
