Despite scoring six goals in 19 caps for the Republic of Ireland’s youth sides, Jack Grealish has announced that he wants to represent England at international level.

With the Three Lions’ lacking in depth in a left attacking position, Grealish could soon be a serious contender. Hodgson invited the 20-year-old to train with the first-team squad this week but Villa boss Tim Sherwood blocked the request, claiming that he is “still behind after missing part of pre season”.

Grealish was a vital part of Villa’s run to the FA Cup final last season with a stand out performance in the semi-final as well as a strong end to last season. There is a lot development still to come, but with the right guidance and attitude, Grealish could become a world-class talent.
