Just a youngster at the time at 18, much was expected of Rooney going to his first major tournament with England. And he didn’t disappoint, scoring four goals including this against Croatia. It was a fierce strike which gave the nation hope that the Three Lions could go all the way. Unfortunately, he was injured in the knockout game against Portugal and England were dumped out.
