New Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou looks likely to over see a number of changes at the club this summer.

The Australian, who joined Spurs from Scottish champions Celtic earlier this month, will be tasked with persuading Harry Kane to stay put in north London.

Postecoglou will also want to bring in new signings of his own, though, and it appears that Spurs have now agreed a deal for a new goalkeeper.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Lilywhites have agreed a deal to sign Empoli ‘keeper Guglielmo Vicario.

The Italian journalist claims that Tottenham have had an offer worth just over £16 million accepted for the player, who impressed in Serie A last season.

Vicario, 26, kept seven clean sheets in 31 top flight matches last term, helping Empoli to avoid relegation.

In total, Vicario has 71 appearances for Empoli across all competitions, having joined the club from Cagliari in 2021, initially on loan, before making the move permanent the following year.

Vicario will join Tottenham on a long-term deal

It is claimed that the Italian will arrive in London in the coming hours to sign his contract with Spurs, with the deal expected to run until 2028.

Spurs are in the market for a new goalkeeper amid ongoing doubts surrounding the future of captain Hugo Lloris.

The Frenchman has spent more than a decade in north London but has been criticised for some of his performances over the past few seasons and looks increasingly likely to leave the club this summer.

Last season, second choice ‘keeper Fraser Forster deputised for Lloris on a number of occasions, initially whilst the France international was injured and later seemingly due to interim manager Ryan Mason’s decision.

Lloris’ current contract with Spurs is expected to run until next summer but he has been heavily linked with a move away from the club in recent weeks and the arrival of Vicario may prompt the Frenchman to depart.
