London clubs Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have been given the go ahead to sign AC Milan star Franck Kessie, according to Italian publication Calciomercato.

The 22-year-old is currently into the second year of his two-year loan spell at Milan from Atalanta and has established himself in the starting XI.

Kessie will become a permanent player for the Rossoneri at the end of the season as part of the loan deal but, despite playing well for the club, it is thought the San Siro side will look to move the player on due to Financial Fair Play issues.

The Ivorian, who has made 25 appearances for the Elephants on the international stage, has featured 21 times this season and has scored three goals from central midfield.

Pochettino wants signings after failing to bring any players to the club in the summer.

But with the Italian outfit struggling to guarantee Champions League football next season, Calciomercato claim that they would be willing to listen to offer around £40million for the young star.

This has put Chelsea and Tottenham – two clubs who having ageing midfielders in their squads – on red alert.

It’s been well reported that Cesc Fabregas could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge, while Mousa Dembele’s future at Spurs is in doubt.

A deal for the young midfielder would not take place until the summer, but there is no doubt Kessie would bring a youthful exuberance to one of the London Premier League sides.
