Tottenham and West Ham United are both reportedly closely monitoring League Two starlet Ryan Sweeney ahead of this summer’s transfer window, according to the Daily Mirror.

The Premier League duo, who currently sit second and fifth in the standings respectively, are thought to have joined Championships clubs Charlton Athletic and Huddersfield Town in registering an interest in AFC Wimbledon’s highly-rated defender.

The 18-year-old, who has featured five times for the Republic of Ireland’s Under-18 squad, has scored one goal and provided one assist in eight league appearances for the Wombles so far this season.

Sweeney, who only significantly made his first-team breakthrough last month after playing against Luton Town in League Two, could be poached by a host of top English clubs this summer following his impressive displays at the Kingsmeadow.

The centre-half, who has been with Wimbledon since he was aged eight, made his Football League debut back in April 2015 in his team’s 4-0 defeat to Dagenham and Redbridge.
