Tottenham Hotspur have become the third Premier League side to enter the race to sign highly rated Porto winger Luis Diaz.

According to The Guardian, Spurs have failed with their initial attempt to sign the 25-year-old, with the Portuguese side having rejected a £37.6 million bid for the star.

Diaz has been in outstanding form this season, scoring 14 goals and providing five assists in 18 Primeira Liga matches so far.

That form has attracted interest from both Liverpool and Manchester United, the latter of whom sent scouts to watch the Colombian in action on Sunday in a 3-1 victory for Porto.

The report suggests that Spurs boss Antonio Conte is keen on bolstering his squad ahead of next week’s deadline, and Diaz has emerged as one of his top targets.

Diaz looks increasingly likely to move to the Premier League this window

The Colombia international does, however, have a release clause of £66 million, although Tottenham are unlikely to fork out a fee that high and will more likely instead return with an increased second offer.

Diaz is believed to have his sights set on a move to England, although it is unknown which club would be his first choice.

The potential arrival of Diaz would likely signal the end of at least one of Dele Alli or Giovanni Lo Celso’s Spurs careers.

The pair were both left out of Conte’s squad or the match against Chelsea on Sunday and speculation is growing that the duo may leave before next week.
