Tottenham Hotspur are set to make Southampton goalkeeper Fraser Forster their first summer signing after securing Champions League football on the final day of the season, according to reports.

As per The Daily Mail, Spurs are close to confirming a deal for the Englishman as they look to bolster their goalkeeping ranks ahead of a relentless campaign that will include European football next season.

Once he passes a medical, the 34-year-old will join the Lilywhites on a free transfer as his Saints contract is expiring this summer.

The former England international will be recruited to provide competition for current number one Hugo Lloris, who played every minute of Spurs’ Premier League campaign this season.

Those in charge at the club are reportedly keen to keep manager Antonio Conte happy, considering the impact he has head during his short time in charge of the club.

Forster is expected to sign for Spurs in the coming days

The Italian took over an underperforming Spurs side midway through the season, and guided them to the top four against all odds.

He spoke openly about his feelings in regard to his current crop of players in January, and insisted that he needed new players in a bid to push singings through.

Now, the Italian will be rewarded with money to spend this summer, and Spurs will apparently battle north London rivals Arsenal for the signing of Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus.

Spurs do, however, have to take into account payments for Dejan Kulusevski, Cristian Romero and Sergio Reguilon, all of which are due this summer.
